{"id":6527,"date":"2009-01-12T01:39:00","date_gmt":"2009-01-11T23:39:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2009-01-12T01:39:00","modified_gmt":"2009-01-11T23:39:00","slug":"altech-must-pay-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/telecoms\/6527-altech-must-pay-up.html","title":{"rendered":"Altech must pay up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HI-TECH firm Altech has been ordered to pay MTN&rsquo;s and Verizon&rsquo;s costs in respect of Altech&rsquo;s intervention application in the MTN\/Verizon merger proceedings, after Altech gave up its hard-won right to intervene on the proceedings, the Competition Tribunal said on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Altech opposed the proposed merger between MTN and Verizon South Africa and applied for leave to intervene. <\/p>\n<p>The company was of the view that the merger would give rise to substantial competition concerns.
