MTN Group has announced the launch of MTN One TV, a video streaming service it says will expand access to digital entertainment to more people in Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The telecoms giant said the platform was designed to provide flexibility surrounding how customers watched content, with models that varied by market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The MTN One TV service includes free-to-view content, ad-supported streaming, pay-as-you-watch access, or subscriptions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Introduced in line with MTN’s Ambition 2030 strategy, MTN One TV brings together local storytelling, live channels, international programming, and market-specific viewing options,” MTN said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Depending on local availability, customers may be able to pay through airtime, Mobile Money, and other locally supported payment methods, helping reduce barriers to streaming access.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Beyond benefits for customers, MTN said One TV would create new opportunities for creators, broadcasters, advertisers, and ecosystem partners in Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“By bringing together a broad mix of content experiences under a single proposition, MTN aims to support greater content discovery, broader audience reach, and sustainable growth,” the company said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“MTN One TV forms part of the Group’s broader ambition to build digital experiences that create value for customers while enabling participation and growth across Africa’s digital economy.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
MTN Group chief commercial officer Selorm Adadevoh said entertainment was quickly becoming a critical gateway to digital participation in Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Through MTN One TV, we are leveraging the scale of our connectivity, fintech, and digital capabilities to make relevant content more accessible while creating new opportunities,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
MTN said the streaming platform was being introduced progressively across its markets through a phased rollout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Over time, MTN will bring together a combination of video capabilities, content partnerships, and customer experiences under the MTN One TV brand,” the company said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
