He was 69.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cUbisoft was deeply saddened to learn of the death of Claude Guillemot, co-founder of the group and chairman of Guillemot Corp., in an accident,\u201d the company said in a statement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time. No further statements will be made at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guillemot perished Friday in a plane crash in La Baule, a resort town on France\u2019s Atlantic coast that was scheduled to host an air show this weekend, the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ouest-france.fr\/societe\/faits-divers\/crash\/un-des-freres-cofondateurs-de-la-societe-de-jeux-videos-ubisoft-decede-dans-le-crash-de-lavion-hier-a-la-baule-9b60653c-6c76-11f1-971c-5aa54f866c16\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">newspaper Ouest-France<\/a>&nbsp;reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was one of two people aboard the twin-engine Cessna 421 plane, the newspaper reported. Both passengers died in the incident, Ouest-France said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guillemot, a Ubisoft shareholder, was chairman of Guillemot Corp., which makes entertainment hardware and accessories, including the Hercules and Thrustmaster brands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He held a master\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/staticctf.ubisoft.com\/8aefmxkxpxwl\/01G4U75Hf4ls1UcIZudGCV\/9a1d45e154a2b4f4ebd92171ae409197\/Claude-Guillemot-biography.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">degree<\/a>\u00a0in economic science from France\u2019s University of Rennes.
