Amazon has officially kicked off its first Prime Day sale in South Africa, offering substantial discounts on a range of products, including tech and gadgets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MyBroadband looked for some of the best Prime Day tech deals available in South Africa as the sale went live. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We found several great deals, including gaming accessories, smartphones, laptops, wearables, smartwatches, and wireless earbuds and headphones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most notable deals were arguably the Apple MacBook Air with an M4 chip, 16GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage for R14,999, and the Samsung Galaxy S26 with 256GB of storage for R13,999.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sales event will run until midnight on Monday, 29 June 2026. The e-commerce giant said Prime Day was specifically geared towards big-ticket items and winter essentials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This year’s event delivers deep discounts on the big-ticket items members have been waiting to shop,” it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It includes savings on all the things you want and need for winter’s biggest moments \u2014 from school holiday activities and games to essentials for friends and family get-togethers.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many of the deals will be exclusive to shoppers with an active Amazon Prime membership, which costs R59 per month or R399 per year in South Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, South African shoppers can take advantage of a prominent loophole to avoid the subscription fee. This is because Amazon is offering a 30-day free trial on its Prime membership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore, shoppers can sign up, score deals, and then cancel their Amazon Prime membership before the first billing cycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even eager South Africans who signed up for the subscription on its launch day \u2014 1 June 2026 \u2014 will still be within their trial window, enabling them to shop the sale without having paid a subscription.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amazon highlighted category-wide discounts that will be available during the sales event, including up to 45% off toys, 40% off beauty and books, and up to 35% off electronics and gaming equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also teased significant discounts on Samsung Galaxy Tablets and Buds, Apple iPhones and MacBooks, Weber braais, and Smeg appliances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bargain hunters should also keep an eye out for limited-time Flash Deals, which Amazon said will go live daily between 18:00 and 20:00 for the duration of the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MyBroadband scoured Amazon’s first Prime Day deals in South Africa and several tech products available at significantly reduced prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The deals were immediately available as the Prime Day countdown expired, spanning categories such as smartphones, headphones, gaming products, laptops, and wearables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We narrowed the deals we found down to the five best, each of which was significantly cheaper than on other online platforms at the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gamers wanting to buy a new controller can get the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller in Galactic Purple for R1,099.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

South African shoppers looking for a reliable pair of wireless earbuds can order the Beats Fit Pro earbuds for R2,299.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The earbuds offer up to six hours of battery life on a single charge and up to 24 hours with the included charging case. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, it should be noted that the deal only applies to the white model, and other colours are more expensive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amazon’s Prime Day deals included the 42mm Garmin Vivoactive 6 smartwatch, with an AMOLED touchscreen display, and up to 11 days of battery life for R4,872.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The smartwatch promises all-day health monitoring and supports over 80 indoor and GPS sports apps, including walking, running, cycling, high-intensity interval training (HIIT), mobility, swimming, and golf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The e-commerce giant is also selling the Samsung Galaxy S26 smartphone with 256GB of storage for R13,999. The device features a 6.3-inch AMOLED display and packs an in-house Exynos 2600 chip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

South Africans looking for a powerful laptop at a reduced price can buy the Apple MacBook Pro with an M4 chip, 16GB of memory, and 256GB of storage for R14,999.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, it should be noted that this price only applies to the Sky Blue and Starlight models, while the Midnight model is priced at R16,999 and the Silver version at R17,999.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
