Another key issue involved the “white genocide” narrative pushed by fringe groups.

In an apparent response to South Africa’s allegations that Israel was committing genocide in Gaza, the U.S. hit back with allegations that the SA government was enabling genocide against white people.

U.S. officials and prominent people like Elon Musk called Julius Malema’s singing of “Kill The Boer” hate speech, arguing that the song incited violence against white people in general, and particularly farmers.

Musk had also condemned the South African government in posts on X (formerly Twitter) for what he described as “openly racist policies” against white citizens.

Advocate for Afrikaner rights in South Africa

Kallie Kriel, AfriForum CEO

Kriel is a prominent Afrikaner rights activist whose work through AfriForum focused on advocating for the interests of Afrikaners and other minorities in South Africa.

This included protecting the Afrikaans language and promoting Afrikaans-medium education, which he has said are important constitutional and cultural rights.

Kriel has campaigned against certain government policies, such as expropriation without compensation and race-based laws.

He has argued that these kinds of policies and laws undermine property rights and unfairly discriminate against minorities living in the country.

Another key priority of Kriel’s has been rural safety. He has frequently brought into the spotlight farm attacks and violent crimes affecting farming communities in South Africa.

He has advocated for stronger policing and greater attention to security in rural areas, and under his leadership, AfriForum established several community safety initiatives, such as neighbourhood patrols.

Kriel and several other Afrikaner leaders met with the U.S. Ambassador in Pretoria in July 2026 to present proposals on addressing racial and cultural discrimination in the country.

He was accompanied by leaders from the Solidarity Movement, the Solidarity trade union, SAAI, NEASA, and Freedom Front Plus, who met with Ambassador L. Brent Bozell III.

“During this meeting, we submitted proposals on what can be done to restore the relationship between South Africa and the United States,” Kriel said.

He added that it wouldn’t be repaired through words, saying “there must be concrete steps”, including attention to cultural and racial discrimination against Afrikaners and other minorities in South Africa.

“We also submitted proposals on how property rights can be stabilised through amendments in the Expropriation Act,” Kriel said.

He added that the discussions also focused on farm murders, rural safety, and calls for the “Kill the Boer” slogan to be condemned by the government.

“Farm murders must be declared a priority crime, and more resources must be ploughed into the struggle,” Kriel said.

The Afrikaner leaders who met with Bozell said a lot of work must be done to address racial discrimination in South Africa, with Kriel adding that there were over 140 pieces of racial legislation.

“The meeting was part of a process of a few months, where we have delivered inputs for both the South African government and the government of the USA,” Kriel added.

AfriForum CEO Kallie Kriel has revealed that there have been attempts to hijack his profile on X.

[27
1731,35045,101618,10760,106462,75758,106461
post-657806","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-security","tag-afriforum","tag-donald-trump","tag-farm-murders","tag-kallie-kriel","tag-social-media-hack","tag-solidarity-movement","tag-x-account-hacked
