NASA has assured the public that the world will not end on 21 December 2012.<\/p>\n
NASA addresses the \u201cMayans predicted the end of the world\u201d theory on a new section of their website entitled \u201cBeyond 2012: Why the World Won\u2019t End<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n NASA says that the rumour of the imminent doomsday centres around a planet called Nibiru, which doesn\u2019t actually exist.<\/p>\n Rumours suggest that Nibiru will align with Earth, resulting in solar flares. All of this is tied to the supposed end of the Mayan calendar.<\/p>\n \u201cThe world will not end in 2012. Our planet has been getting along just fine for more than 4 billion years, and credible scientists worldwide know of no threat associated with 2012,\u201d said NASA.<\/p>\n NASA space scientist David Morrison was interviewed about the rumoured impending 2012 doomsday. \u201cI\u2019m disturbed by letters from kids who are afraid.
