While the majority of technology manufacturers are struggling through the current economic recession, Apple is registering record profits.<\/p>\n
The company has registered $10.17 billion in revenue and $1.61 in profit in 2009’s first fiscal quarter. The same quarter last year registered $9.6 billion in revenue and $1.58 billion in profit. <\/p>\n
Apple sold 2,524,000 Mac computers during the quarter, representing nine percent unit growth over last year’s first quarter. <\/p>\n
22,727,000 iPods were sold over the quarter, growing three percent on last year’s sales at the same time. <\/p>\n
Finally, Apple sold 4,363,000 iPhones reflecting 88 percent growth over the previous year’s first quarter.<\/p>\n
“Even in these economically challenging times, we are incredibly pleased to report our best quarterly revenue and earnings in Apple history—surpassing $10 billion in quarterly revenue for the first time ever,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. <\/p>\n
