A recent survey conducted by employment portal Careers24 aimed to shed some light on how much South Africans take home every month.<\/p>\n
According to the survey the average salary in South Africa is R 16 586.00 per month. Woman earned on average R 13 692 per month while men took home substantially higher amounts with an average salary of R 19 912 per month.<\/p>\n
Individuals working in the fields of Information Systems, Electronics and Telecoms Technologies earned a higher than average monthly salary of R 19 435 per month. In this field females earned R 16 442 per month while males on average earned R 21 141 per month.<\/p>\n
In the Information Systems, Electronics and Telecoms Technologies market under 25’s earn an average of R 11 300 per month while the 46 to 50 year olds were the highest earners at an average of R 29 230 per month.<\/p>\n
Unskilled IT workers earned an average monthly salary of R 9 897 per month while semi-skilled workers earned slightly more at R 10 681 per month. Skilled employees took home an average salary of R 15 243 per month whilst professionals earned R 25 656 per month.<\/p>\n
The top earners were senior managers and top managers earning monthly salaries of R 28 811 and R 34 025 respectively. <\/p>\n
When it came to qualifications, degreed workers earned substantially more than employees with only a Matric, a Certificate or Diploma. Top earners were professionals with a Masters degree earning an average salary of R 34 413 per month.<\/p>\n
Workers in the Mining Sector earned the highest average monthly salary at R 25 487, followed by the Forest Industry at R 23 832 and the Energy Sector at R 22 973.<\/p>\n
