{"id":67718,"date":"2013-01-02T14:14:39","date_gmt":"2013-01-02T12:14:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=67718"},"modified":"2013-01-03T08:38:05","modified_gmt":"2013-01-03T06:38:05","slug":"toptv-subscriber-information-safe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/security\/67718-toptv-subscriber-information-safe.html","title":{"rendered":"TopTV subscriber information safe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"TopTV\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/385929-TopTV\">TopTV<\/a>\u2019s website was hacked on 1 January, but this security breach did not have any impact on the company\u2019s sensitive subscriber information.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Heather Kennedy\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/494718-Heather-Kennedy\">Heather Kennedy<\/a>, TopTV\u2019s vice president for marketing, explained that the TopTV website does not contain any sensitive subscriber information, such as subscriber details.<\/p>\n<p>The website also does not have any financial facility for payment of subscriptions, thus there are no subscriber bank details or any possible way to trace these on the site.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSubscriber information is all contained in the separate and secure CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system, which is unrelated in any way to the TopTV website,\u201d said Kennedy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe website is a portal for information regarding TopTV, its channels, pricing and packaging, and the Top Guide, which provides programme schedule information for the channels.
