Samsung<\/a> recently announced in a press release that it will be launching a new version (4.0) of its Smart TV software development kit (SDK) at the 2013 international Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which is being held in Las Vegas from 8\u201311 January 2013.<\/p>\n

This new version of the Smart TV SDK will let developers build applications for Samsung TVs on Linux<\/a> and Mac<\/a>, in addition to the Windows<\/a> operating system.<\/p>\n

Previously the SDK only supported Microsoft<\/a>\u2019s Windows platform.<\/p>\n

The Korean electronics giant also punted its \u201clocal cloud developer environment\u201d which it says will let developers on Mac OS collaborate with those using Windows.<\/p>\n

Samsung went on to explain that the SDK supports development in HTML5 and allows access to external devices, including Samsung\u2019s own voice- and gesture-based input systems.<\/p>\n
