A developer (only identified as Bob) working for an unnamed US critical infrastructure company was outsourcing his work to a Chinese sub-contractor while he spent his time goofing around on the Internet.<\/p>\n

When the company noticed a series of activity on their main server originating from China, they called in telecommunications supplier Verizon to audit the system’s security.<\/p>\n

Verizon discovered the ruse, noting that Bob had to send his physical security token to the Chinese devs so they could log into the system.<\/p>\n

The quality of the work was so good that Bob was recognised as the company’s top programmer and considered an expert in C, C++, Perl, Java, Ruby, PHP, and Python.<\/p>\n

Bob had also taken jobs at other companies and was completing work with a similar outsourcing scheme. Bob is no longer employed by the infrastructure company.<\/p>\n

Having analysed his habits, Verizon was able to compile a schedule of Bob’s daily Internet activity:<\/p>\n
