According to the report the "online bazaar" will be for phones running Microsoft’s Windows Mobile operating system, not unlike Apple’s iPhone store.

Microsoft has also launched a limited beta version of a new mobile site called My Phone.

The My Phone website went live late last week and is intended to allow users to synchronise information such as contacts and calendar entries between a Windows Mobile cellphone and the My Phone website. Users will also be able to share pictures with friends and relatives using the free service.

According to the My Phone website, users of the service will get 200MB of free storage and synchronisation between a users phone and the website will be automatic.

The mobile app store is believed to be modeled on the similar iPhone app store.

Nick Jones, vice president at IT analyst Gartner, says that "Microsoft’s online mobile application store is pretty much a ‘me too’ option trailing behind Apple.
