Mxit<\/a> has announced a new executive team which will drive the company forward in its quest to double its user base in 2013.<\/p>\n

Last week Mxit announced the official appointment of Vincent Maher<\/a> as Chief Marketing Officer, Andrew Davies<\/a> as Chief Operating Officer, and Richard Newton<\/a> as Chief Financial Offer.<\/p>\n

These executives will support CEO Francois Swart<\/a> in the company\u2019s quest to grow its subscriber base and extend into various other market segments.<\/p>\n

Mxit is already making waves. Mxit\u2019s latest Android<\/a> application has been unveiled, and the company has also developed an app to access Twitter<\/a> via Mxit.<\/p>\n

The mobile platform is also getting ready for releasing a movie on Mxit in February. \u201cIt\u2019s via an app called ‘Cinemo’ and the movie is broken into 4 minute ‘episodes’ with one episode appearing every day until its finished,\u201d explains Mxit spokesperson Sarah Rice.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the potential for it to introduce new revenue and distribution models for local film makers is really amazing,\u201d said Rice.<\/p>\n
