{"id":69220,"date":"2013-02-15T15:00:36","date_gmt":"2013-02-15T13:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=69220"},"modified":"2013-02-15T15:02:00","modified_gmt":"2013-02-15T13:02:00","slug":"apple-vs-android-mobile-browser-wars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/internet\/69220-apple-vs-android-mobile-browser-wars.html","title":{"rendered":"Apple vs Android: mobile browser wars"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Akamai\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/212578-Akamai\">Akamai<\/a> released its Q3 2012 State of the Internet report recently, which showed among other things that <a title=\"Apple\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/342717-Apple-Inc\">Apple<\/a>\u2019s Mobile Safari browser was responsible for the majority of observed web requests.<\/p>\n<p>According to Akamai, the current data set comes from sampling traffic across several hundred top-tier sites delivering content through its cloud platform, but explained that most of these sites are focused on a U.S. audience.<\/p>\n<p>This means that the data presented in the report is biased in favour of U.S. users, Akamai conceded, adding that back-end data collection and processing work is ongoing to expand the sample set.<\/p>\n<p>Akamai expects to provide more global and geo-specific views of the data, as well as more granular insight into browser versions, during the first quarter of 2013.<\/p>\n<p>The table below summarises the average percentage of requests mobile browsers were responsible for during Q3 2012:<\/p>\n<div class=\"table-responsive\"><table class=\"table\" style=\"background-color: #f4f4f4;
