{"id":69260,"date":"2013-01-24T22:45:41","date_gmt":"2013-01-24T20:45:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=69260"},"modified":"2013-01-25T09:04:24","modified_gmt":"2013-01-25T07:04:24","slug":"iphone-5-lte-for-sa-soon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/69260-iphone-5-lte-for-sa-soon.html","title":{"rendered":"iPhone 5 LTE for SA soon?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>South African mobile networks may be among the 36 carriers to receive <a title=\"LTE\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/367212-Long-term-Evolution-(LTE)\">LTE<\/a> support for the <a title=\"iPhone 5\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/498240-Apple-iPhone-5\">iPhone 5<\/a> next week (27 January 2013 &#8211; 2 February 2013).<\/p>\n<p>MacRumors and AppleInsider reported that in the recent <a title=\"Apple\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/342717-Apple-Inc\">Apple<\/a> financial results conference call, CEO <a title=\"Tim Cook\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/360542-Tim-Cook\">Tim Cook<\/a> revealed that they will be adding more carriers for LTE support.<\/p>\n<p>Cook reportedly noted carriers in Italy, Denmark, Finland, Switzerland, the Philippines, and also several middle eastern countries would be added.<\/p>\n<p>Although there was nary a mention of Africa, one industry source that asked not to be identified told MyBroadband that they expect SA networks to be added with the release of <a title=\"iOS\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/464665-iOS\">iOS<\/a> 6.1.<\/p>\n<p>Whether this will be next week is not certain as the ball is entirely in Apple&#8217;s court, the source said.
