<a title=\"BlackBerry 10\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/501762-BlackBerry-10\">BlackBerry 10<\/a> operating system and devices yesterday, but most local operators are mum on their South African launch dates and product plans.<\/p>\n<p>BlackBerry devices were launched in the UK today, and will become available in a few other countries over the next month.<\/p>\n<p>Even more relevant to the local market is the apparent scrapping of <a title=\"BIS\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/429993-BIS-BlackBerry-Internet-Service\">BIS<\/a>, which provides BlackBerry users with affordable, unlimited Internet access.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Rory O\u2019Neill\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/501754-Rory-O\u2019Neill\">Rory O\u2019Neill<\/a>, VP of product &amp; channel marketing at BlackBerry, said that BlackBerry 10 uses both their own infrastructure and the carrier\u2019s infrastructure to deliver the \u201cBlackBerry experience\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He said that they are not quite ready to talk about how South Africa\u2019s BIS-based data packages are going to change as they are \u201cstill talking through the class=\"wp-caption-text\">Amith Maharaj<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a title=\"8a\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/276092-8ta\"><strong>8ta<\/strong><\/a> has confirmed that it will be offering a range of data and voice packages to cater for the varied needs of BlackBerry 10 users.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBlackBerry 10 traffic will terminate on the carrier internet APN unlike the current BlackBerry Internet Services (BIS) and BlackBerry Enterprise Server (<a title=\"BES\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/501560-BlackBerry-Enterprise-Server\">BES<\/a>) traffic that terminates on the blackberry.net APN,\u201d 8ta said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSubscription charges on these data packages will fall away with the BlackBerry 10 operating system enabling mobile networks to package unique offers to consumers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c8ta is uniquely positioned to offer high volume data packages to provide 8ta customers with a quality experience while using their BlackBerry 10 device,\u201d said 8ta.<\/p>\n<p>8ta added that BlackBerry 10 deals and devices will be available through 8ta flagship stores and Telkom direct stores from 1 March 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Consumers can also pre-order the BlackBerry 10 devices and deals from 8ta for delivery on 1 March 2013.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"FNB\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/307757-FNB-First-National-Bank\">FNB<\/a> CEO <a title=\"Michael Jordaan\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/399571-Michael-Jordaan\">Michael Jordaan<\/a> also confirmed that the bank will be offering new Blackberry 10 when it lands in South communication at <a title=\"MTN SA\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/226943-MTN\"><strong>MTN SA<\/strong><\/a>, said that MTN will range the Blackberry 10 device and \u201cis excited at the possibilities that the new operating system brings for its customers\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>However, MTN would not provide a launch date or other product details. \u201cMTN will make an announcement on pricing and availability in due course,\u201d said Gould.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Cell C\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/213919-Cell-C\"><strong>Cell C<\/strong><\/a> said that it cannot provide any details about the BlackBerry 10 service or products.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Vodacom\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/227063-Vodacom\"><strong>Vodacom<\/strong><\/a> would also not say anything of value. \u201cThe launch plans for BB10 have not yet been finalised.
