Numerous Telkom<\/a> Internet ADSL subscribers have been complaining about problems with international connectivity and slow peer-to-peer (P2P) throughput.<\/p>\n

These complaints started to emerge two weeks ago, sparking speculation that Telkom Internet made changes to its network to support their lower uncapped prices, and the decision to uncap its capped ADSL products.<\/p>\n

\u201cInternational browsing is almost impossible and HTTP downloads crawl at less than 10KBps,\u201d said one Telkom Internet subscriber. \u201cI am going nuts! I phoned Telkom and they deny having a problem,\u201d said another user.<\/p>\n

MyBroadband has also received complaints that P2P services are not performing as expected, with very slow download speeds.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy torrents only reach download speeds of 10kbps if I’m lucky. I was getting up to 120kbps recently,\u201d said one user. \u201cTelkom uncapped: Torrents and DC++ are stone dead,\u201d said another.<\/p>\n

Telkom explains<\/h3>\n

Telkom Internet said that it has not implemented stricter shaping policies with regard to peer-to-peer traffic.<\/p>\n

\u201cIntermittent slow peer-to-peer traffic performance was a result of changes to the network during a recent maintenance exercise,\u201d Telkom said.<\/p>\n

Telkom said that the peer-to-peer traffic performance is back to normal.<\/p>\n
