{"id":71310,"date":"2013-02-26T11:08:59","date_gmt":"2013-02-26T09:08:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=71310"},"modified":"2013-02-26T11:23:07","modified_gmt":"2013-02-26T09:23:07","slug":"new-mtn-data-rates-announced-soon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/71310-new-mtn-data-rates-announced-soon.html","title":{"rendered":"New MTN data rates announced soon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"MTN\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/226943-MTN\">MTN<\/a> said in a press release issued today (26 February 2013) that it would soon announce data rates to make Internet connectivity \u201ceven more affordable to <a title=\"BlackBerry\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/342709-BlackBerry\">BlackBerry<\/a> customers\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The rest of the release dealt with the <a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/71264-blackberry-internet-service-capped-on-mtn.html\">introduction of a 200MB \u201cfair usage policy\u201d<\/a> on MTN\u2019s R59\/month BlackBerry Internet Service (<a title=\"BIS\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/429993-BIS-BlackBerry-Internet-Service\">BIS<\/a>) package, which will be renamed to \u201cBlackBerry Absolute\u201d from 1 March 2013.<\/p>\n<p>MTN said that it will be offering an extra 200MB free to customers using more than 200MB for the first three months of the launch of Blackberry Absolute.<\/p>\n<p>Once customers have depleted their data allocation, they will stay connected to BIS by either using their Internet bundle or getting charged directly from their airtime balance, MTN said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe BlackBerry Absolute Plan is aimed at optimising the network to make it efficient so as to provide a world-class experience for our customers,\u201d <a title=\"Devan Chetty\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/298913-Devan-Chetty\">Devan Chetty<\/a>, GM of core &amp;
