There are a multitude of websites competing for the favour of netizens, with MySpace, Youtube, Blogger and many others battling it out in the Web 2.0 space. It is however Facebook who is currently enjoying the most attention in SA.<\/p>\n<p>According to the latest Alexa country statistics Facebook is the second most popular website in SA, beaten only by Google.co.za<\/p>\n<p>The popular online community and social networking website is ahead of third placed Yahoo and even Google.com and MSN.<\/p>\n<p>According Alexa&rsquo;s statistics MySpace is the sixth most popular website amoung local web users, followed by YouTube, Wikipedia, Windows Live and Blogger.com.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Most popular local websites<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Locally Web 2.0 websites are not performing as well as their international counterparts. This may be attributed to the fact that local social networking and new media websites are generally hosted internationally due to high bandwidth fees which means that they are competing directly with services like Facebook, YouTube and Flickr.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Alexa statistics the busiest local wesbites are MWEB, News24 and IOL.
