The only way to reactivate the lock screen at this stage is to power-cycle the device.

Resident MyBroadband smartphone reviewer, Gerrit Vermeulen, was able to verify that this vulnerability exists in a Samsung Galaxy S3 sold in South Africa.

More smartphone security news

Apple hit by hackers

Cyber-security battle looms

Porn viewing can harm your smartphone

Samsung Dive smartphone security software launched in SA

[27,17934
397,605,167,35,691,12461,1125,645,14817,9009
post-72008","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-security","category-smartphones","tag-android","tag-apple","tag-google","tag-headline","tag-ios","tag-ios-6","tag-iphone","tag-samsung","tag-samsung-galaxy-note-2","tag-samsung-galaxy-s3
