{"id":73146,"date":"2013-03-13T14:50:59","date_gmt":"2013-03-13T12:50:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=73146"},"modified":"2013-03-14T08:21:29","modified_gmt":"2013-03-14T06:21:29","slug":"dstv-decoders-built-into-samsung-tvs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadcasting\/73146-dstv-decoders-built-into-samsung-tvs.html","title":{"rendered":"DStv decoders built into Samsung TVs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Samsung\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/333656-Samsung\">Samsung<\/a> and <a title=\"MultiChoice\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/216214-MultiChoice\">MultiChoice<\/a> announced a partnership at the 2013 Samsung Africa Forum today (13 March 2013) under which new \u201ccontent TVs\u201d will have <a title=\"DStv\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/383647-DStv\">DStv<\/a> decoders built in.<\/p>\n<p>MultiChoice\u2019s new digital terrestrial television service, <a title=\"GoTV\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/487404-GOtv\">GoTV<\/a>, will also be available at Samsung outlets, the companies announced in a press statement.<\/p>\n<p>GoTV uses the second generation of the digital video broadcasting for terrestrial (DVB-T2) standard, which has yet to be commercially launched in South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWorking with Samsung will significantly increase our continental footprint, giving subscribers easy access to all our products through the co-operation of Samsung dealers and distributors,\u201d said <a title=\"Nico Meyer\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/288165-Nico-Meyer\">Nico Meyer<\/a>, CEO of MultiChoice Africa.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_73148\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-73148\" class=\"size-full wp-image-73148\" title=\"Samsung TV with DStv decoders announcement\" src=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Samsung-TV-with-DStv-decoders-announcement.jpg\" alt=\"Samsung TV with DStv decoders announcement\" width=\"600\" height=\"280\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-73148\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Samsung TV with DStv decoders announcement<\/p><\/div>\n<p id=\"related\"><strong>* Update:<\/strong> A Samsung spokesperson clarified that the DStv decoders won&#8217;t be built into all Samsung TVs to start with, but that it is their intention to include it in all their TVs eventually.
