It has been designed to integrate with existing projects with a view to identify and resolve performance issues at an earlier stage in the development cycle.

"The GPU PerfStudio 2.0 suite of tools is extensive, customisable and, most importantly, based on open standards, which is critical for developers looking to integrate them into their existing workflows" said Neal Robison, director of developer relations for the graphics products group at AMD.

Some of the features include:
– A frame debugger which will allow developers to freeze applications on a single frame for detailed inspection;
– A shader debugger, for the live debugging of HLSL and ASM pixel shaders; and
– A frame profiler which will identify performance bottlenecks and optimisation opportunities.

GPU PerfStudio 2.0 will include support for DirectX 10.1 as well as for 32-bit and 64-bit applications.
