A number of Firefox<\/a> and Chrome<\/a> users were greeted with the troubling message on Monday (15 April 2013) saying that their browser of choice would no longer be supported by the First National Bank (FNB<\/a>) online banking website.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom June [2013] your browser will no longer be supported\u201d, the website stated, along with a link to download Internet Explorer<\/a> 10.<\/p>\n

The implication that customers will have to switch to Internet Explorer 10 to use online banking did not sit well with many users.<\/p>\n

One concern raised is that Internet Explorer 10 does not run on platforms other than Windows 7 and Windows 8.<\/p>\n

However, a FNB spokesperson has explained that the bank is only stopping support for Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) and it is reworking the information to clearly indicate that only access via IE7 is being closed in June.<\/p>\n
