{"id":75891,"date":"2013-04-18T16:42:04","date_gmt":"2013-04-18T14:42:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=75891"},"modified":"2013-04-19T08:44:50","modified_gmt":"2013-04-19T06:44:50","slug":"mtn-blackberry-data-problems-explained","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/75891-mtn-blackberry-data-problems-explained.html","title":{"rendered":"MTN BlackBerry data problems explained"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"MTN\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/226943-MTN\">MTN<\/a> said in a press statement today (18 April 2013) that, during March 2013, it detected a technical error that occurred on its system causing its tiered service <a title=\"BlackBerry\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/342709-BlackBerry\">BlackBerry<\/a> customers depleting their data at a faster rate than usual.<\/p>\n<p>The BlackBerry tiered service is also often referred to as BlackBerry Internet Service (<a title=\"BIS\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/429993-BIS-BlackBerry-Internet-Service\">BIS<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>According to MTN, it has implemented an interim solution to prevent the rapid depletion of subscribers\u2019 BlackBerry bundles.<\/p>\n<p>Chief executive officer of MTN SA, <a title=\"Karel Pienaar\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/210096-Karel-Pienaar\">Karel Pienaar<\/a>, said that they are monitoring this solution and will continue to do so until their range of BlackBerry services operate as intended.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe wish to assure our customers that we are working tirelessly to find a speedy resolution to this issue,\u201d Pienaar said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn keeping with our promise, the affected customers are being provided with an additional 200MB bundle,\u201d said Pienaar.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe apologise to our loyal customers for the interrupted experience.
