{"id":7599,"date":"2009-04-03T21:49:00","date_gmt":"2009-04-03T19:49:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2009-04-03T21:49:00","modified_gmt":"2009-04-03T19:49:00","slug":"digital-terrestrial-television-regulations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/telecoms\/7599-digital-terrestrial-television-regulations.html","title":{"rendered":"Digital Terrestrial Television regulations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has published the Digital Terrestrial Television regulations for final public consultation.<\/p>\n<p>The regulations have five main objectives:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>To set out the time frames for the rollout of the digital terrestrial television throughout the country<\/li>\n<li>Provide accessible and quality television broadcasting<\/li>\n<li>Prescribe a procedure and conditions for assignment of multiplexes to the existing television broadcasting services<\/li>\n<li>To regulate the transmission of terrestrial broadcasting services from analogue transmission to digital terrestrial transmission during the dual illumination period. <\/li>\n<li>To provide for the allocation and authorisation of digital incentive channels.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The Authority held the first public hearings in November 2008.
