{"id":77712,"date":"2013-05-24T09:12:18","date_gmt":"2013-05-24T07:12:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=77712"},"modified":"2013-05-24T09:13:36","modified_gmt":"2013-05-24T07:13:36","slug":"biggest-mobile-data-users-revealed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/77712-biggest-mobile-data-users-revealed.html","title":{"rendered":"Biggest mobile data users revealed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Akamai Technologies\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/212578-Akamai\">Akamai Technologies<\/a> released its Q4 2012 State of the Internet Report, revealing that <a title=\"Android\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/221979-Google-Android\">Android<\/a> and <a title=\"iOS\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/464665-iOS\">iOS<\/a> users consume more data per month than their counterparts using <a title=\"Windows\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/462587-Windows-Phone\">Windows<\/a>, <a title=\"BlackBerry\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/342709-BlackBerry\">BlackBerry<\/a>, and <a title=\"Symbian\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/360524-Symbian\">Symbian<\/a> mobile operating systems.<\/p>\n<p>Based on data gathered from the Akamai Intelligent Platform, the State of the Internet report provides insight into key global statistics including mobile data usage and mobile platform popularity.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, the largest average per subscription traffic volumes can be measured on Android smartphones, ranging up to 2.2 GB per month. This is on networks where high-end models dominate.<\/p>\n<p>However, when operators focus on the low-end Android segment the average usage is usually smaller than for iPhones.<\/p>\n<p>There are large differences between traffic volumes of phones with different versions of Windows OS.<\/p>\n<p>The average values might increase significantly in the future when Windows 8 devices outnumber older traffic volumes in the measured networks per device type, routers reign supreme.<\/p>\n<p>The largest average values had been measured on router devices (4-14GB), followed by mobile PCs (0.7-7GB), and
