<a title=\"Maps\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/466417-Google-Maps\">Maps<\/a>, <a title=\"Bernhard Seefeld\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/530414-Bernhard-Seefeld\">Bernhard Seefeld<\/a>, unveiled what they called \u201cThe Future of Google Maps\u201d, at the Google I\/O conference in San Francisco today (15 May 2013).<\/p>\n<p>Among the features announced is the display of locations returned from searches in Maps right on the map, rather than in a sidebar.<\/p>\n<p>Clicking on a place name, along with bringing up a card with information pertinent to the place, also contextually turns on and off the names of roads leading to the location.<\/p>\n<p>Location cards are also able to show photos of a place, and clicking on them launches a 3D photo tour generated from user-uploaded photos.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_77972\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption id=\"caption-attachment-77972\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Google Maps new full screen interface<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cNo plugins, no downloads,\u201d Seefeld said, \u201cThe Google Earth experience right in the browser.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Maps will also pull recommendation data from Google Now, showing things such as restaurants friends have recommended, and favourite places that you have \u201cstarred\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Navigation in Google Maps has also been improved, with Seefeld saying that driving and public transit directions are shown at the same time.<\/p>\n<p>Seefeld said that sign-ups for a preview of the \u201cfuture of Maps\u201d would be open at maps.google.com\/preview.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"related\">More Google news<\/h3>\n<p><a
