A recent carrier update from Apple<\/a> enabled Long Term Evolution (LTE<\/a>) support for the iPhone 5<\/a> on the Cell C<\/a> network, but the operator is not yet ready to commercially launch the service.<\/p>\n

In a statement on the MyBroadband forum, a Cell C representative said: \u201cCell C will notify customers when the company launches LTE to its general customer base.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked for more details, Cell C said that it has no timeframe for their LTE launch just yet.<\/p>\n

The operator\u2019s spokesperson also explained that once they had launched LTE, subscribers would have to make sure that they have a USIM<\/acronym> that\u2019s LTE-provisioned to use the LTE network.<\/p>\n

\u201cMost of our iPhone 5 customers will have USIMs already,\u201d Cell C told MyBroadband when asked if this means that a SIM swap would be necessary.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are a small group of customers from the first batch of sales that will need to complete a SIM swap.\u201d<\/p>\n
