{"id":78627,"date":"2013-05-24T12:22:11","date_gmt":"2013-05-24T10:22:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=78627"},"modified":"2013-05-24T12:24:44","modified_gmt":"2013-05-24T10:24:44","slug":"e-toll-protest-cancelled","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/technology\/78627-e-toll-protest-cancelled.html","title":{"rendered":"E-toll protest cancelled"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A group of protesters who had gathered outside Cosatu headquarters on Friday morning dispersed after the march against e-tolls was cancelled.<\/p>\n<p>The group, clad in Congress of SA Trade Unions colours, had been singing anti-e-toll slogans outside the offices throughout the morning.<\/p>\n<p>They marched up and down the adjacent Simmonds Street under the watchful eye of members of the Johannesburg metro police, the SA Police Service, and provincial traffic officials.<\/p>\n<p>The Johannesburg Magistrate&#8217;s Court on Thursday dismissed Cosatu&#8217;s application to embark on a drive-slow protest on the city&#8217;s highways.<\/p>\n<p>Cosatu approached the court after metro police refused it permission for the protest.<\/p>\n<p>Cosatu Gauteng secretary Dumisani Dakile told the protesters that the campaign against e-tolls in the province would intensify.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We respect the law, but if other people are going to manipulate it, then we will defy [it].&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He accused the JMPD of &#8220;deliberately&#8221;
