Phone in SA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MTN recently released the HTC Dream smartphone in South Africa.&nbsp; The HTC Dream, better known as the G1 in Europe and the United States, runs the Google designed Android operating system and is widely seen as Google&rsquo;s competitor to the Apple iPhone.<\/p>\n<p>The HTC Dream, sporting an 8.1 cm TFT-LCD touch-sensitive screen with a 480&#215;320 resolution, promises a seamless Internet experience with pre-installed software supporting Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Maps, Google Talk and YouTube videos.<\/p>\n<p>The HTC Dream was launched in the US and UK in October 2008 and T-Mobile recently announced that it has sold over 1 million units since its launch.&nbsp; Apple, in comparison, has sold over 3 million iPhone 3G units in its first month after its launch, and has sold 17.4 million iPhones to date.<\/p>\n<p>MTN is offering the HTC Dream to potential subscribers on an MTN Anytime package for R 529 per month which includes R 350
