The new MacBook Air range was unveiled at WWDC in San Francisco today (10 June 2013), confirming rumours of a hardware refresh for the ultrabook PCs.<\/p>\n
The new MacBook Air will feature Intel<\/a>\u2019s new Haswell chips, promising less power consumption and therefore better battery life.<\/p>\n Phil Schiller<\/a>, senior vice-president of worldwide marketing at Apple<\/a> confirmed that the new MacBook Airs now feature \u201call day\u201d battery life, and support for 802.11ac Wi-Fi networking.<\/p>\n The new 11″ MacBook Air boasts 9 hours of battery life, and will cost $999 for a model with a 128GB solid-state drive (SSD), while a 256GB version will set you back $1,199.<\/p>\n The 13″ MacBook Air will cost $1,099 for the 128GB model, and $1,299 for the 256GB one, with a promised battery life of 12 hours.<\/p>\n Schiller said that the new MacBook Air ultrabooks will be available for purchase immediately.<\/p>\n Schiller also gave attendees a \u201csneak peak\u201d of the upcoming Mac Pro which boasts a host of hardware upgrades, including support for Thunderbolt 2 and dual AMD FirePro graphics cards.<\/p>\n Most striking, however, is the cylindrical case which Schiller said takes up only an eighth of the volume of the previous generation Mac Pro.<\/p>\n The new Mac Pro will be available later this year, Schiller said, and will be assembled in the USA.<\/p>\n iOS, iRadio, OS X, new Macs: what to expect from WWDC 2013<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n Apple sale in South Africa<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n New MacBook Pro prices for SA revealed<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n Retina MacBook Pro, MacBook Air price drop<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\nMac Pro<\/h3>\n
