{"id":8001,"date":"2009-05-11T22:12:00","date_gmt":"2009-05-11T20:12:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2009-05-11T22:12:00","modified_gmt":"2009-05-11T20:12:00","slug":"spam-hall-of-shame","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/internet\/8001-spam-hall-of-shame.html","title":{"rendered":"Spam hall of shame"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Towards the end of last year the Internet Service Providers Association of South Africa (ISPA) released its <a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/Internet\/5696.html\">first &lsquo;ISPA Hall of Shame&rsquo; report<\/a>, naming and shaming South African spammers.&nbsp; In this report four major spammers were named, namely Database Development, Dynamic Seminars, James Munro and The Peer Group. <\/p>\n<p>The second ISPA Hall of Shame report was released in mid-February, and this time no less than 11 well known spammers are listed.&nbsp; The eleven culprits are:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Johann Blumenthal \/ Passive Income <\/li>\n<li>Abelusi Training Network <\/li>\n<li>Legal Sense <\/li>\n<li>SourceIT.120 <\/li>\n<li>Itec Group <\/li>\n<li>Dynamic Seminars <\/li>\n<li>New Heights 1268 <\/li>\n<li>Letsshop4u.com <\/li>\n<li>PPI Group <\/li>\n<li>Kingsley Internet Solutions <\/li>\n<li>Michael Faust \/ Business Solutions Africa <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Why the &lsquo;name and shame&rsquo; spam report <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ISPA says that, as the representative of the vast majority of ISPs in South Africa, it is releasing its Hall of Shame report to assist South African consumers to effectively manage local unsolicited bulk email [spam]. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;There is currently significant growth in the generation of local spam and while ISPA&#8217;s members do their best to keep spam out of their customers&#8217; inboxes, this does come at a cost.&rdquo; <\/p>\n<p>ISPA says that it believes that consumers should only receive bulk mail that they have requested and\/or consented to receive and\/or which they would expect to receive as a result of an existing relationship.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php?t=171276\">South African email spammers<\/a><\/strong> &#8211; do you know of any other local spammers?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Have you been spammed by these local \u2018ISPA Hall of Shame\u2019 spammers lately? <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[18],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-8001","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-internet"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/8001"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=8001"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/8001\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=8001"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=8001"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=8001"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
