{"id":80075,"date":"2013-06-12T11:17:10","date_gmt":"2013-06-12T09:17:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=80075"},"modified":"2013-06-14T14:17:01","modified_gmt":"2013-06-14T12:17:01","slug":"iol-hit-by-dos-attack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/internet\/80075-iol-hit-by-dos-attack.html","title":{"rendered":"IOL hit by DoS attack"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A hacktivist group calling itself \u201cAnonymous Africa\u201d has taken down the <a title=\"IOL.co.za\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/378462-IOL-Independent-Online\">IOL.co.za<\/a> news website through a denial of service (DoS) attack for \u201cignoring the genocide against the Ndebele people and for supporting a dictator\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The hacktivist protest against IOL was announced on Twitter using the account @zim4thewin (Anonymous Africa) and on MyBroadband&#8217;s forum using the account \u201canonafrica\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The hacktivist announced on MyBroadband&#8217;s forum that \u201cas a hacktivist protest against the article, \u2018Mugabe hero of African liberation\u2019 on iol.co.za. AnonAfrica will be taking down iol.co.za with a DoS attack\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>According to the user anonafrica this was done to \u201cprotest the glorification of this mass murdering dictator. One response for the genocide of 20,000 Ndebele.
