Power FM<\/a>, a new commercial talk radio station which broadcasts throughout Gauteng and surrounding areas, has gone live today (18 June 2013).<\/p>\n

Power FM is owned by media operating group MSG Afrika Media, a subsidiary of MSG Afrika Investment Holdings<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The station was licensed by the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA<\/a>) in December 2011, and is available on 98.7 FM.<\/p>\n

MSG Afrika Media said in a statement that Power FM aims to be the most credible and trusted commercial talk radio station in South Africa.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is targeted at adult South Africans aged between 25 and 49, who are looking for a radio station that reflects who they are and their future aspirations,\u201d the company said.<\/p>\n

Power FM has bagged a few big names to drive listenership, including Tim Modise<\/a>, Lawrence Tlhabane<\/a> (formerly Dube), Siki Mgabadeli<\/a>, and Pabi Moloi<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“We want to appeal to a diverse spectrum of the South African public,” said Ferdinand Mabalane<\/a>, Power FM Station Manager.<\/p>\n

“We are very proud of the calibre of the talent we have been able to attract. We look forward to providing the very best in news and entertainment, and making a difference in the lives of our listeners by reflecting their achievements and aspirations,” said Mkhari.<\/p>\n
