Police have been forced to seek help from cellphone manufacturer Apple<\/a> in the United States to gain access to murder accused paralympian Oscar Pistorius<\/a>‘ phone, The Mail on Sunday reported.<\/p>\n

Pistorius could reportedly not remember the four-digit passcode needed to unlock a cellphone he was using on the night his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp<\/a> was shot and killed.<\/p>\n

The iPhone 5<\/a>, along with three other phones, was found on the bathroom floor of his Pretoria home early on Valentine’s Day after the shooting.<\/p>\n

Lt-Gen Vineshkumar Moonoo, who was leading the investigation, told the publication: “Pistorius is saying he can’t remember the code and we have been unable to access messages sent or received that night”.<\/p>\n

“These could be crucial and Apple executives in America have made their technicians available to help us,” he said.<\/p>\n

“I cannot say Pistorius’s memory failure is suspicious but the mobile phones were clearly in use up to the time of the killing.”<\/p>\n

Pistorius’s case for the alleged murder of his girlfriend was postponed to August 19.<\/p>\n
