Naspers<\/a> released its annual results today (25 June 2013), revealing that MultiChoice<\/a> has grown its DStv<\/a> subscriber base by 1,128,000 subscribers over the last year. This means that 6,739,000 households across Africa now have DStv.<\/p>\n

New DStv Compact subscribers accounted for 38% of growth, while the DStv PVR base increased 26% year on year to 956,000 subscribers.<\/p>\n

When looking at South Africa only, 4,451,000 households now have DStv \u2013 up from 3,981,000 a year ago.<\/p>\n

What is particularly impressive is that the average revenue per DStv subscriber increased from R298 per month to R307 per month.<\/p>\n

This increased revenue per user may be partly due to the success of DStv\u2019s BoxOffice service, which now sees 400,000 movie rentals in South Africa per month.<\/p>\n

Naspers\u2019 pay-TV operations generated R30-billion in revenue per year, with an annual profit of R7.6 billion.<\/p>\n
