{"id":8131,"date":"2009-05-21T12:46:00","date_gmt":"2009-05-21T10:46:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2009-05-21T12:46:00","modified_gmt":"2009-05-21T10:46:00","slug":"fnb-embraces-twitter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/internet\/8131-fnb-embraces-twitter.html","title":{"rendered":"FNB embraces Twitter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>First National Bank (FNB) today announced that it has actively embraced thw micro-blogging platform Twitter to engage with customers.<\/p>\n<p>Says head of media at FNB Gisele Wertheim-Aymes; &ldquo;We have actively tracked and reacted to &lsquo;Tweets&rsquo; for the past six months as part of a strategy to extend our ethos of helpfulness. FNB&rsquo;s involvement in Twitter is also serving a market research function. It provides almost instant feedback on what customers are thinking.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>While FNB is not the first bank to seek new ways to manage its on-line reputation, the company says that its digital initiatives have placed it in a unique position of finding a business use for those brief 140-character Tweets.<\/p>\n<p>For those fearing to tread in an environment where personal opinion, biting criticism and quick-hits enjoy a high priority, FNB&rsquo;s experience has been that the majority of Tweets are valid.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Some commentators are suggesting that Twitter could turn out to be a passing fad.
