{"id":81855,"date":"2013-07-09T23:17:25","date_gmt":"2013-07-09T21:17:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=81855"},"modified":"2013-07-10T08:17:16","modified_gmt":"2013-07-10T06:17:16","slug":"cell-c-network-quality-complaints","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/81855-cell-c-network-quality-complaints.html","title":{"rendered":"Cell C network quality complaints"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Cell C\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/213919-Cell-C\">Cell C<\/a> subscribers have taken to Twitter, Facebook, HelloPeter, and the MyBroadband forums to complain about poor connectivity on the cellular network, in addition to other issues.<\/p>\n<p>Complaints range from billing problems, to suddenly sitting without coverage or having no data throughput despite being connected to the cellular network.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c@CellC why do you offer internet services when no such thing exists? Seriously waste of time &amp; money because cant get my work done,\u201d said Nancy Kachingwe on Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>A number of irate customers also suggested that they are looking at porting to another cellular service provider if Cell C\u2019s service doesn\u2019t improve.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_81859\" style=\"width: 532px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-81859\" class=\"size-full wp-image-81859\" alt=\"Cell C network complaints\" src=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Cell-C-network-complaints.jpg\" width=\"522\" height=\"245\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-81859\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sibu Mabena and Sizwe Ngcobo complain about poor Cell C service<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cFor the last 3 months, I have had serious connection problems with my Cell C 3G,\u201d MyBroadband forum member <em>rhodad<\/em> posted on 1 July 2013. \u201cAt most I am getting 5kbps down\/upload. I called the service desk, was put through to tech support and was told that a techie will call me back in 2 days, this was 3 weeks ago and I have yet to hear back from them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Similar sentiments were echoed by other forum users in the thread.<\/p>\n<p>Cell C was asked what is causing the problems being reported from all over the country, but did not respond by the time of publication.<\/p>\n<p>In March 2013 when <a title=\"Cell C network problems and growth update\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/74533-cell-c-network-problems-and-growth-update.html\">Cell C experienced similar network problems<\/a>, CEO <a title=\"Alan Knott-Craig\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/224891-Alan-Knott-Craig-(Senior)\">Alan Knott-Craig<\/a> told MyBroadband that it was especially evident during peak hours when traffic levels spiked.<\/p>\n<p>At the time, Knott-Craig said that they addressed these problems by increasing the capacity of the affected sites and that service levels should be back to normal again.<\/p>\n<p>He added that they continue to roll out more sites and boost capacity on existing sites to improve their network performance.<\/p>\n<p>Knott-Craig said that some challenges remain, as limited spectrum and a lack of transmission at some sites makes it difficult for Cell C to meet its objectives.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">MyBroadband forum threads on Cell C connectivity issues<\/h3>\n<p>Below is a sample of some of the threads on the MyBroadband forum dealing with the connectivity problems experienced by Cell C customers.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/542091-Tip-of-the-Day-to-get-your-Connection-Going\"><strong>Tip of the Day to get your Connection Going\u2026.<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/537515-Cell-C-Data-Potential-FIX\"><strong>Cell C Data Potential FIX<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/527882-Cell-C-Data-Rip-Off\"><strong>Cell C Data Rip-Off<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/541547-CellC-3G-Pathetic-Pathetic-Pathetic\"><strong>CellC 3G &#8211;
