Rumour has it that Cell C<\/a> has been trying to put together a deal with First National Bank (FNB<\/a>) to launch an FNB-branded cellphone business on th Cell C network, the Business Times reported today (21 July 2013).<\/p>\n

Neither outgoing FNB CEO Michael Jordaan<\/a>, nor Cell C CEO Alan Knott-Craig<\/a> were willing to comment about the deal, Business Times reported.<\/p>\n

However, according to the paper, Knott-Craig said a bank becoming a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) was not far-fetched.<\/p>\n

MyBroadband reported in June 2013 that two independent sources had confirmed that FNB and Cell C are in discussions about an MVNO agreement.<\/p>\n

According to the sources, a positive outcome from the discussions is likely.<\/p>\n
