{"id":8309,"date":"2009-06-05T00:28:00","date_gmt":"2009-06-04T22:28:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2009-06-05T00:28:00","modified_gmt":"2009-06-04T22:28:00","slug":"electricity-usage-down","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/technology\/8309-electricity-usage-down.html","title":{"rendered":"Electricity usage down"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The estimated consumption of electricity in April 2009 decreased by 6.2% compared with April 2008, the Pretoria-based agency said.<\/p>\n<p>It added that electricity consumed for the first four months of 2009 decreased by 7.0% compared with the first four months of 2008.<\/p>\n<p>However, electricity consumption after seasonal adjustment for April 2009 increased by 2.0% compared with March 2009.<\/p>\n<p>According to Statistics SA, production of electricity was at a lower level than a year ago.<\/p>\n<p>The estimated production of electricity in April 2009 decreased by 5.7% compared with April 2008, it said.<\/p>\n<p>The estimated production of electricity for the first four months of 2009 decreased by 8.1% compared with the first four months of 2008.<\/p>\n<p>However, the estimated production of electricity, after seasonal adjustment, increased by 2.7% for April 2009 compared with March 2009.<\/p>\n<p>According to Statistics SA, distribution of electricity by Eskom to the provinces decreased for the first four months of 2009 by 7.0% compared with the first four months of 2008.<\/p>\n<p>Decreases were reported for all the provinces during this period ranging from minus 14.8% for North West to minus 0.7% for KwaZulu-Natal.<\/p>\n<p>Statistics SA said the volume of electricity imported from outside South Africa&#8217;s borders increased from 3169 gigawatt-hours in the first four months of 2008 to 4071 gigawatt-hours in the first four months of 2009, representing an increase of 28.5%.<\/p>\n<p>However, the volume of electricity exported to neighbouring countries for the first four months of 2009 decreased by 5.6% compared with the first four months of 2008.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php?t=175092\">Electricity usage discussion<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CONSUMPTION of electricity was down from a year ago, Statistics SA said today. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[17],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-8309","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-technology"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/8309"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=8309"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/8309\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=8309"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=8309"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=8309"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
