A report from China Labour Watch<\/a> has confirmed the production of a low-cost iPhone<\/a> at Apple<\/a>\u00a0device-maker Pegatron<\/a>‘s factory in China.<\/span><\/p>\n

The report was an assessment of iPhone-maker, Pegatron, who was accused of\u00a0violating international labor laws as well as Apple\u2019s own standards<\/a>, but the document also makes reference to the “soon-to-be-released cheap iPhone.”<\/p>\n

“Today\u2019s work is to paste protective film on the iPhone\u2019s plastic back cover to prevent it from being scratched on assembly lines,”\u00a0reads the report.<\/p>\n

“This iPhone model with a plastic cover will soon be released on the market by Apple. The new cellphone has not yet been put into mass production, so quantity is not as important.”<\/p>\n

Previous rumours of a low-cost iPhone speculated that the phone would feature a 3.5-inch Retina display, a plastic shell with multiple colour options, and an A5 processor.<\/p>\n

The low-cost phone is rumoured to be called the iPhone 5C and cost around $300 (R2,945*).<\/p>\n
