Vodacom<\/a> launched its Appia<\/a> powered app store in September 2011, offering over 140,000 applications to its feature phone and smartphone customers.<\/p>\n

Vodacom said that its app store is going strong two years on. \u201cWe are continuing to source new and relevant local apps,\u201d Vodacom said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is also the App star challenge held once a year which is an international competition.\u201d<\/p>\n

While the Vodacom app store caters for all operating systems and most phones, Java based phones dominate downloads.<\/p>\n

The operator said that approximately 60% of downloads on the Vodacom app store comes from Java based phones (feature phones), with Android<\/a> coming in second at 20%.<\/p>\n

The most popular applications on the Vodacom app store is listed below. Mxit<\/a>, which is particularly popular on feature phones, tops the list.<\/p>\n
