Some Cell C<\/a> subscribers are setting their phones to always roam on the Vodacom<\/a> network, which they feel gives them better service levels. Cell C, however, recommends that their subscribers do not force a network choice.<\/p>\n

Cell C has a roaming agreement with Vodacom, which allows Cell C subscribers to use the Vodacom network when outside Cell C coverage areas.<\/p>\n

Some Cell C subscribers who feel they get superior service levels from Vodacom\u2019s network are setting their phones to only connect to Vodacom\u2019s network.<\/p>\n

This means that some Cell C subscribers are using only Vodacom\u2019s network, which is widely seen as the best network in South Africa, but are benefiting from Cell C\u2019s low rates. Some people described it as a \u2018best of both worlds\u2019 solution.<\/p>\n

Cell C discourages forcing a network choice<\/h3>\n

Cell C said that it would not recommend subscribers force a network choice. \u201cWe have an extensive network footprint and continue to roll out more sites to increase coverage,\u201d Cell C said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhere there are coverage gaps, customers have the benefit of using national roaming, which Cell C pays for in terms of our national roaming agreement with Vodacom. In these cases the device will automatically select the optimum service for coverage.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cell C said that there is a concern that forcing to roam on Vodacom can impact the company financially.<\/p>\n

\u201cCell C has to pay Vodacom for national roaming, which is costly and, from a customer perspective, is also unnecessary where Cell C has coverage,\u201d Cell C said.<\/p>\n
