{"id":84719,"date":"2013-08-19T22:56:59","date_gmt":"2013-08-19T20:56:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=84719"},"modified":"2013-08-20T08:31:42","modified_gmt":"2013-08-20T06:31:42","slug":"cell-c-will-be-dead-within-6-months-analyst","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/84719-cell-c-will-be-dead-within-6-months-analyst.html","title":{"rendered":"Cell C will be dead within 6 months: analyst"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Paul Theron\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/553901-Paul-Theron\">Paul Theron<\/a>, CEO of <a title=\"Vestact Limited\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/553903-Vestact-Limited\">Vestact Limited<\/a>, argues that <a title=\"Cell C\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/213919-Cell-C\">Cell C<\/a> has decimated its own business case and will be dead within six months.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on CNBC, Theron said that Cell C is messing up the mobile market in South Africa for everyone, including themselves, with their aggressive pricing strategy.<\/p>\n<p>Theron said that Cell C is \u201cbasically burning the furniture over there to stay in business,\u201d and had to raise more money to remain afloat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCell C will be dead within 6 months. Listen to me now \u2013 they are under such pressure that they basically decimated their own business chasing market share,\u201d said Theron.<\/p>\n<p>Theron added that if <a title=\"Alan Knott-Craig\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/224891-Alan-Knott-Craig-(Senior)\">Alan Knott-Craig<\/a> is still the CEO of Cell C in six months\u2019 time he will be very surprised.<\/p>\n<p>Knott-Craig took the reins at Cell C in April 2012, and was quick to cut prices to gain market share.
