{"id":84871,"date":"2013-08-22T11:06:42","date_gmt":"2013-08-22T09:06:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=84871"},"modified":"2013-08-22T11:07:47","modified_gmt":"2013-08-22T09:07:47","slug":"cell-c-slated-for-poor-service-quality","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/84871-cell-c-slated-for-poor-service-quality.html","title":{"rendered":"Cell C slated for poor service quality"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Cell C\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/213919-Cell-C\">Cell C<\/a> subscribers have taken to online platforms such as HelloPeter and MyBroadband\u2019s forums to complain about the poor service levels they receive from the operator.<\/p>\n<p>The Times recently reported that \u201cdisgruntled Cell C customers are accusing the cellphone network of breaching the Consumer Protection Act and breaking promises\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The report stated that the complaints posted on HelloPeter range from &#8220;terrible network reception to incorrect billing, call dropping and poor service overall\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>MyBroadband\u2019s forums have also seen many complaints about poor network quality from Cell C (<a title=\"Cell C network quality discussion\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/328644-Cell-C-Network-Issues-Disconnects-Coverage-Throughput-Problems-Report-Here\"><strong>Cell C network problem discussion here<\/strong><\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>While there are complaints about all networks in South Africa, the number of complaints from Cell C subscribers in recent weeks are much higher on a per-subscriber basis.<\/p>\n<div class=\"table-responsive\"><table class=\"table\" width=\"100%\" border=\"1\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"5\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\" colspan=\"4\" bgcolor=\"#999999\"><strong>HelloPeter complaints on 20 August 2013<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td bgcolor=\"#CCCCCC\"><strong>Operator<\/strong><\/td>\n<td bgcolor=\"#CCCCCC\"><strong>Subscribers<\/strong><\/td>\n<td bgcolor=\"#CCCCCC\"><strong>Complaints on 20 August 2013<\/strong><\/td>\n<td bgcolor=\"#CCCCCC\"><strong>Daily complaints per million subscribers<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Cell C<\/td>\n<td>11,700,000<\/td>\n<td>59<\/td>\n<td>5.04<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Vodacom<\/td>\n<td>29,300,000<\/td>\n<td>47<\/td>\n<td>1.60<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>MTN<\/td>\n<td>25,000,000<\/td>\n<td>37<\/td>\n<td>1.48<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table><\/div>\n<p>The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa\u2019s (<a title=\"Icasa\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/462443-Independent-Communications-Authority-of-South-Africa-(ICASA)\">Icasa<\/a>\u2019s) latest Quality Of Service (QoS) monitoring test report showed that Cell C\u2019s network quality was far worse than that of <a title=\"Vodacom\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/227063-Vodacom\">Vodacom<\/a> and <a title=\"MTN\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/226943-MTN\">MTN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The conclusion may therefore be drawn that consumers have reason to complain, and that Cell C is indeed struggling with poor network quality.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Cell C gives feedback on consumer complaints, ICASA report<\/h3>\n<p><a title=\"Jose Dos Santos\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/472450-Jose-Dos-Santos\">Jose Dos Santos<\/a>, Cell C Chief Commercial Officer, said that they were not given an opportunity to comment on ICASA&#8217;s report prior to publication.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are still engaging with them regarding the testing methodology to ensure accuracy of results.
