{"id":852,"date":"2007-08-02T23:49:00","date_gmt":"2007-08-02T21:49:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2007-08-02T23:49:00","modified_gmt":"2007-08-02T21:49:00","slug":"vodacom-reach-settlement-with-cwu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/852-vodacom-reach-settlement-with-cwu.html","title":{"rendered":"Vodacom reach settlement with CWU"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The salient terms of this agreement are as follows: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The &ldquo;lock out&rdquo; and the strike between Vodacom and the CWU has been terminated, with striking workers tendering their services at normal starting time on or before 7 August 2007.<\/li>\n<li>The current number of union members have been agreed by the parties which represents less than 15% of the workforce of 4202 permanent Vodacom (Pty) Ltd employees on 30 June 2007.<\/li>\n<li>In future only members whose union membership is paid as a deduction from the Vodacom payroll will be recognized as union members.<\/li>\n<li>For the purposes of determining Union representation, the workforce of Vodacom will comprise all employees except for management levels 1, 2 and 3. These management levels comprised 146 employees on 30 June 2007. This would still give the CWU less than 15% representation of the remaining workforce as of 30 June 2007.<\/li>\n<li>All employees who went on strike will receive no pay or benefits for the entire period that they were on strike.<\/li>\n<li>Union members can access demarcated areas on Vodacom premises which have more than 50 union members after hours under strict guidelines subject to at least two days notice being given.<\/li>\n<li>When the union reaches 30% membership they will be allowed two work representatives who will each receive an extra two days paid leave per annum for union training.<\/li>\n<li>Once the union represents more than 50% of the employees then they will enjoy full collective bargaining rights in terms of the Labour Relations Act.<\/li>\n<li>The CWU will withdraw its current dispute in regard to wages.<\/li>\n<li>Vodacom will withdraw its Section 24 application currently pending.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php?t=83059\">Comments<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Vodacom and the Communications Workers Union today reached an agreement.  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[14],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-852","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-cellular"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/852"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=852"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/852\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=852"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=852"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=852"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
