{"id":8550,"date":"2009-06-25T23:59:00","date_gmt":"2009-06-25T21:59:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2009-06-25T23:59:00","modified_gmt":"2009-06-25T21:59:00","slug":"telkom-s-new-adsl-account-details","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/adsl\/8550-telkom-s-new-adsl-account-details.html","title":{"rendered":"Telkom\u2019s new ADSL account details"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Telkom filed its <a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/Business\/8489.html\">latest tariff adjustments with ICASA<\/a> which sees an overall price increase of 1.7%.&nbsp; The company left its monthly subscription charges for DSL, Do Broadband and TelkomInternet unchanged, but provided <a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/ADSL\/8488.html\">higher usage limits for the DSL accounts<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>TelkomInternet all access 2GB subscribers will get 3 GB of usage from 1 August while current 3 GB account holders will be bumped up to 5 GB of usage per month.&nbsp; The higher monthly usage limits are good news for many Telkom ADSL clients, but the bad news is that strict capping is back.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>Telkom said that the ADSL &lsquo;threshold&rsquo; &ndash; which allows subscribers to exceed their usage limit without being capped &ndash; will not exist with the new caps. &ldquo;The threshold will no longer exist and user accounts will be capped at the exact values,&rdquo; Telkom confirmed.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>The amount of local bandwidth associated with current 2 GB and 3 GB accounts will remain unchanged.&nbsp; &ldquo;The 2 GB bundle will be increased to 3 GB with the allocated local bandwidth remaining at 20GB. The 3 GB bundle will be increased to 5GB with the allocated local bandwidth remaining at 30GB,&rdquo; Telkom said.<\/p>\n<p>Good news for Do Broadband subscribers is that the Do Broadband level 2 option will have now 3GB bundled data (20GB local) and the do Broadband level 3 option will have 5 GB bundled data (30GB local). <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Please note that the adjustments are subject to approval from ICASA.
