{"id":87262,"date":"2013-09-19T16:52:28","date_gmt":"2013-09-19T14:52:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=87262"},"modified":"2013-09-20T12:40:37","modified_gmt":"2013-09-20T10:40:37","slug":"sabc-cant-stop-us-openview-hd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadcasting\/87262-sabc-cant-stop-us-openview-hd.html","title":{"rendered":"SABC can\u2019t stop us: OpenView HD"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>OpenView HD operator <a title=\"Platco Digital\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/547417-Platco-Digital\">Platco Digital<\/a>, a sister company to <a title=\"E-tv\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/313641-e-tv\">E-tv<\/a>, has said in a statement on Thursday, 19 September 2013, that the <a title=\"SABC\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/313653-South-African-Broadcasting-Corporation-(SABC)\">SABC<\/a> cannot prevent them from broadcasting their channels.<\/p>\n<p>Platco was responding to a statement issued by the SABC earlier that day, in which the public broadcaster accused it of \u201cmisleading the public\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The SABC said that it has no agreement with Platco regarding its channels, and appealed to Platco to \u201cwithdraw its statements and pronouncements immediately\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>However, according to Platco the SABC as the public broadcaster has various obligations and any attempts by the SABC to prevent Platco from carrying the SABC channels would be unlawful.<\/p>\n<p>Platco reaffirmed that OpenView HD will be broadcasting SABC 1, 2, and 3 when it launches.<\/p>\n<p>The full statement from Platco is reproduced below:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Platco Digital notes with interest SABC\u2019s statement of 19th of September, regarding their inclusion on the OpenView HD platform.<\/p>\n<p>Platco is surprised by the statement issued by the SABC. Platco will be carrying SABC 1, 2 and 3 from the launch date.
