{"id":87901,"date":"2013-09-30T15:55:14","date_gmt":"2013-09-30T13:55:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=87901"},"modified":"2013-10-01T08:42:51","modified_gmt":"2013-10-01T06:42:51","slug":"freevision-channel-list","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadcasting\/87901-freevision-channel-list.html","title":{"rendered":"Freevision channel list"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a title=\"Freevision\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/563355-Freevision\">Freevision<\/a> channel line-up includes 36 television channels and 16 radio channels, according to press statement issued by <a title=\"Sentech\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/220208-Sentech\">Sentech<\/a> at the Freevision launch event in Johannesburg on Monday, 30 September 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Sentech\u2019s Freevision bouquet is largely the same as the line-up it offered under its former free-to-air satellite TV brand, Vivid.<\/p>\n<p>However, Sentech CEO <a title=\"Setumo Mohapi\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/283281-Setumo-Mohapi\">Setumo Mohapi<\/a> promised at the launch event that the Freevision platform will offer South Africans more by being open and interoperable with other broadcasters.<\/p>\n<p>Amongst other things, Mohapi said that Freevision could carry content for new pay TV broadcasters such as Close TV and Siyaya TV, who have applied for licenses from the <a title=\"Independent Communications Authority of South Africa\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/226385-ICASA\">Independent Communications Authority of South Africa<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_75069\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-75069\" class=\"size-full wp-image-75069\" alt=\"Setumo Mohapi\" src=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Setumo-Mohapi.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Setumo-Mohapi.jpg 600w, https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Setumo-Mohapi-250x166.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-75069\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Setumo Mohapi<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Sentech is also working on an online video player for content that it carries, along with catch-up services, HD content, and personal video recording, Mohapi said.<\/p>\n<p>Freevision launched on Monday at a starting once-off price of R1,350 including dish, decoder, and installation, though other manufacturers have indicated plans to bring set-top boxes to market at different price points.<\/p>\n<p>ABT plans to offer a decoder, dish, and installation for R1,699, while Telergy is planning a range of offerings starting from R499 up to R1,499 for a decoder with HD and video-on-demand features.<\/p>\n<p>The Freevision channel list is reproduced below:<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Free-to-air broadcasters<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>SABC 1,<\/li>\n<li>SABC 2,<\/li>\n<li>SABC 3,<\/li>\n<li>SABC News,<\/li>\n<li>SABC DTT channels, and<\/li>\n<li>E-tv DTT channels.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Community broadcasters<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Alex TV,<\/li>\n<li>Tshwane TV,<\/li>\n<li>Cape TV,<\/li>\n<li>Bay TV,<\/li>\n<li>Soweto TV, and<\/li>\n<li>1 KZN.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Entertainment channels<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Zulu TV, and<\/li>\n<li>SA Channel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">News and current affairs channels<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>MyNews Channel,<\/li>\n<li>TVC News, and<\/li>\n<li>France 24.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Educational channels<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Mindset Learn,<\/li>\n<li>Mindset Health;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Special interest channels:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>God Never Fails TV,<\/li>\n<li>RLW,<\/li>\n<li>Breakthru TV,<\/li>\n<li>New Generation TV,<\/li>\n<li>Abel Damina Ministries,<\/li>\n<li>The Synagogue Church &#8211;
