The Internet domains for the Department of Transport (DoT) – dot.gov.za and transport.gov.za – have been experiencing problems since Wednesday, 9 October 2013.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for the department has told MyBroadband that the State Information Technology Agency (Sita<\/a>) alerted them that their servers were experiencing \u201ctechnical challenges\u201d.<\/p>\n Sita hosts the Department of Transport’s servers, the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n These problems have hit the department at the start of its period of public comment on its proposed E-toll tariffs<\/a> which were also gazetted on Wednesday.<\/p>\n According to the DoT, comments must be submitted in writing, with e-mail specified as one of the accepted delivery methods.<\/p>\n However, the address provided by the DoT (tariff@dot.gov.za) in the government gazette immediately returns the error message \u201cRecipient address rejected: Access denied\u201d when trying to send e-mails to it.<\/p>\n This leaves only fax and conventional post as methods to submit comments until Sita has resolved the issues plaguing the Department of Transport\u2019s domain.<\/p>\n By the time of publication, Sita did not answer questions on the problems affecting the DoT’s servers or how soon they are expected to come back online.<\/p>\n E-toll prices: what some might pay<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n E-tolls like toilets \u2013 you pay to use them: transport minister<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n Cape Town public transport now on Google Maps<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\nMore E-toll and transport news<\/h3>\n
